Choosing the right promotional product to convey your brand message often becomes a choice between price vs. quality. Here are 9 great reasons to choose quality over price.
1. 1. People will use products you give them.
When giving a quality product, it will last longer, meaning it will be used more. Every time someone uses the product it will continue to repeat the exposure of your company. If someone can only use a product two or three times, the repeat exposure will only be two or three times.
2. 2. Creates a positive image of your company.
Have you ever been frustrated by a product that doesn’t work? Or upset by a product that breaks after the first usage? Then why would someone want to give out a product that does exactly that?
When giving out high quality items, people will be pleased with the products they receive and those positive ideas and feelings will be associated with your company.
3. 3. Stand out from the trade show crowd.
Many companies have inexpensive give-aways at trade shows because the number of people receiving the product is so high. However, a higher quality product will be remembered more and help you stand out. When people go home and go through the items they collected, many items end up in a drawer or cupboard to be thrown out at a later date.
By having a higher quality product, your product will be more likely to be used more often in daily life; giving that repeated exposure you are looking for.
4. 4. Bigger bang for your buck.
Promotional products already have a longer life than magazine, television and radio ads. With media ads, once they are over they are out of the customer’s mind. With the right promotional product, people will use the item daily, meaning they are exposed to your brand for longer periods of time.
When purchasing and handing out a higher quality product the length of time your customer is exposed to your brand is increased even more because the product will last longer.
For example, giving away an inexpensive water bottle may result in a product that leaks or cracks quickly, meaning people won’t use them for long. Promoting your business with a higher quality item means they may use them for months.
5. 5. Stand out from your competitors.
Quality products will make you stand out from your competitors. If your company gives out an item with a higher perceived value, your clients will think that you value them more. A nice quality pen will have a bigger impact then a basic pen that will stop working quickly or break easily.
You value your customers and clients, so give them a product that shows that you do.
6. 6. Clothing your employees will actually wear.
While employees are unlikely to wear uniforms outside of work, a quality t-shirt, hoodie or hat will often become a favourite. If the clothing is of high quality, feels nice and fits nice, people will wear it. Creative decoration techniques will give garments a more “retail” look; your employees will enjoy wearing them outside the workplace if they have a “cool” factor.
7. 7. Make referrals and rewards meaningful.
Many companies use promotional products for referral, safety and sales programs. Make sure these products are something that people will strive to get. If the product has a high perceived value people will work hard to refer people to you or to really follow a safety or sales program.
8. 8. Presents your company as a higher quality company.
The perceived value of the product that carries your brand will be a direct reflection to the recipient of the item of the quality of your company.
9. 9. If you choose well people will use your product daily!
When looking at buying promotional products consider who you will be giving these items to. These products are useful only when people can use them in their daily lives.
Choose a product that your clients will use and be able to continue using for a long time.
Remember that the ultimate goal of your promotional item is to create positive brand awareness. You can achieve this by using products that people will use as often as possible; a better quality item is more likely to provide this.
